Red Riding Hood
Ruby Lucas
PERSONALITY Both in the enchanted forest and in Storybrooke, Ruby like to push boundaries that she deep down knew she probably shouldn’t. But she is a stubborn, adventurous and most of all brave young woman. Though others, like her Granny, might see her more as reckless. But what can you do when you're in love? Ruby is the kind of person to fight tooth and claw for the people she loves, no matter if they are family, friends or a lover. She likes feeling independent, wild and free, which are attributes of the wolf side of her. Therefore she hates being held in one place for too long, she would much rather run free. She likes the feeling of helping people, it gives her a sense of accomplishment and belonging. On the other hand she, of course, hates being feared, even though she knows that werewolves are feared by many, she has learned to control herself in her wolf form and is of no danger to people she does not want to hurt. HISTORY Before the first curse Red grew up as an orphan in the enchanted forest, with her Grandmother, Widow Lucas. Having been told by Granny that her parents died when she was just a baby, and it would take quite a while for her to figure out it was a lie. Granny did her best to protect Red from finding out the truth, keeping her locked up in their cottage when ever there was a full moon, making her believe that it was to protect her from the wolf, not that she was trying to protect others from her. But once Red fell in love with Peter, a blacksmith's son, she soon began going against Granny's warnings and orders. Love makes us do crazy things, she met with Peter many times by the window to the cottage, talking to him about a dream of running away with him one day. Red didn't know that she was the wolf everyone wanted to kill, Granny knew but she did her best to keep it from Red so so wouldn't have to live with the burden of being a monster. So because of her ignorance, she ends up thinking that Peter is the wolf, and convinces him to let her tie him to a tree to keep people safe. But in the end it turns out that she is the wolf and she accidentally eats Peter. When she saw what she did to Peter and finally realized what she was, she began to see herself as a monster. So she starts wearing her cloak all the time. But one day a strange man came and stole her cloak, threatening to burn it, but she got to him before he could. She quickly found out that he was a wolf too, so he takes her to a den to meet the leader of his pack. There she finds out that Granny has lied to her her whole life, because the leader of the pack turns out to be Red's mother, Anita. She teaches her daughter to control herself while she is in wolf form. Red decides to stay with her mother and the pack, but one day Snow finds her way to the den, where the wolves immediately wants to kill her. Red pleads with her mother to spare Snow's life, trying to convince them that she is a friend. But before long, The Queen's guards had tracked Snow to the den and they suddenly came in to get her. During the fight Quinn, one of the wolves, are shot, this makes Anita extremely angry and suddenly she wants to execute Snow. That ended up in another fight in which Anita was impaled on a spike and is killed. Now Red's only friend is Snow and she does her best to help her while she is on the run. So when she heard that Snow need her to help someone to break into The Queen's castle so they could save one of The Queen's prisoners from being executed. After that she quickly become friends with Charming as well, helping him and Snow as much as she could. She helps them get together and once they are she helps them fight both King George and The Evil Queen. She also ends up on Snow's and Charming's war counsel along with Granny. During the first curse In Storybrooke Red was now called Ruby and she was working with Granny in her bed and breakfast. Though she wasn't always very happy about it, she would much rather like to be traveling and have adventures with lemurs. So when Granny asked her to start to work more and take care of the book work, she got really mad and quit her job instead. She had a bit of a crises of faith in herself, thinking that she was only good at her job as a waitress. But Emma made her see that she was good at many other things as she worked at the sheriff station. She helps track David down, since even though she has forgotten she is a wolf she still has her tracking skills and the same sense of smell. But she found that the job there was a bit too much for her, and in the end she went back to work at Granny's. She is still very protective of her loved ones, so if she thinks her friends are in danger in some way she will do her best to help. Like she did for Ashley when she was trying to run away so she could keep her baby. After the first curse She does her best to come to terms with being a werewolf in Storybrooke, since Spencer, AKA King George, tries his best to convince everyone that she was a dangerous killer. And she really believed that she was the cause of the murders that had been committed, since she couldn't find her cloak and couldn't remember what she done during her time as a wolf. But David found out that she had been set up by Spencer, and did his best to help her see that she wasn't the monster that people thought she was. She wasn't the only one having trouble with seeing themselves as a monster, Dr. Whale, who was really Victor Frankenstein, was having a crises of faith in himself as a doctor. So when he suddenly disappeared from the hospital when he was supposed to be saving a man, Ruby was sent out to track him down. She found him on the dock about to commit suicide, but she caught him before he fell into the water. He then told her why he was so distraught, and she told him about her own past, that she was a monster too. But she also gave him the confidence to go back to the hospital and help the injured man. Before the second curse She went back to the enchanted forest with everyone else, and helped everyone take back the palace from Zelena. She felt weird about suddenly helping Regina in fights, since she had spent so much of her life running from her and fighting her. But she could see that Regina deserved a second chance as much as anyone, since even she had gotten a second chance when everyone thought she was a monster. During the second curse When everyone came back to Storybrooke without their memories, Ruby went back to working at Granny's. When Henry and Emma comes back to Storybrooke, she calls him Henry and serves him a cup of cocoa with cinnamon on top, but he doesn't remember ever being in the town, so he is surprised that she knows that he likes cinnamon. She has to think fast to come up with a reason for how she knew, and told him that she had just guessed it. After the second curse Ruby starts to feel a bit out of place in Storybrooke, since she is the only one of her kind in the town. So she goes back to the enchanted forest to find out if there are others like her. She goes there with the help of a magic bean that she had helped Tiny grow. In the enchanted forest she roams the land to find others of her kind, to no avail. In the end she goes to Dunbroch to get help from the witch, but she gets captured and is forced to stay in her wolf form and be a guard dog to the witch, until she is saved by Mulan. After that she helps Mulan and Merida find a magic helm that had been owned by Merida's father, King Fergus. She uses her wolf scent to track Arthur, the man who killed King Fergus and took the helm, down. She also helped them fight Zelena and Arthur, and after they won she asked Mulan to go on a quest to find other werewolves with her. After a long while of looking to no avail, she gave up her search and decided that she wanted to go back to Storybrooke again. But she didn't know how she would do that, since she had used her only magic bean to get to the enchanted forest. But she remembered that the witch who held her captured had some magic beans in her cabin, so she went back to steal one from her, thinking the witch owed her that after the way she had treated her. As soon as she had the bean, she used it so the witch didn't get the chance to catch her. Now that she is back in Storybrooke, she is working at Granny's again, and living with her as well. But she is looking for her own place now, since she thinks she is old enough to move out now. RP SAMPLE Running wild. That was the best feeling in the world to Ruby, and she had yet to find something that remotely compared to it. It hadn't been like that in the beginning, when she had no control over herself in her wolf fazes, but after her time with her mother's pack everything changed. Then she knew that she could finally run wild and free through the woods, without hurting anyone, only the ones who deserved it. Though there weren't really that many people in Storybrooke who deserved getting hurt by her, not now when mostly everyone accepted her for what she was. It had taken a while for them to see she wouldn't hurt them, and even for herself to see that she wasn't a monster, especially after she ate Peter. But Snow had accepted her for who and what she was from the very beginning, and Ruby would forever be grateful to her for that. Even when she wasn't a wolf, she liked being wild and free. Granny could probably tell you so many stories about how she used to go up against everything her Granny said. That was why she dressed so scandalously during the first curse, it was her wild side shining through. But since she had decided to stay in Storybrooke, where her family and friends were, instead of going back to the enchanted forest again, she was settling down a bit more, helping out at Granny's. But still taking walks on the wild side more than once in a while. |
